SUSTAINABILITY

SUSTAINBILITY STATEMENT

Our sustainability philosophy begins with a shift in thinking. At alice + olivia, we believe that fashion is a powerful platform that brings about positive global change — that the way we dress influences the way we live, both now and in the future. We understand it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, so we invite you to navigate this journey with us as we learn by doing. We are not perfect, nor do we claim to be, but we promise to be transparent in our sustainability efforts and leave the world in a better place than we found it the day before.   We are working hard to make sure sustainably sourced materials fit effortlessly into the a+o lifestyle, while the details – vivid prints and sharp tailoring – remain feminine and each style lends a unique element of novelty and fun. We find ourselves at the intersection of creativity and protecting the environment, an innate part of our brand identity.

TEXTILES

Our commitment to sustainability goes down to the fiber itself. We work closely with suppliers to source and create one-of-a-kind fabrics that are as luxurious as they are conscientious. The key materials of our collection such as our core suiting are pulp made from natural trees. FSC® forest certification is a certification given to products made from wood obtained from well-managed, sustainable forests and their manufacturing and distribution processes. The material is also bluesign certified. This means from fiber to finished product, the mill partners with manufacturers and finishing suppliers to ensure there are safe workplaces to produce a textile product that is less impactful on the environment and people. Consumers can trust that bluesign labeled textiles and products have met the strictest standards throughout the supply chain.

We have also made tireless efforts to ensure that our textiles prints and linings meet OKEO-TEX -100 Standard. If a textile carries the OKEO-TEX 100 standard, you can be certain that every component has been tested for harmful substances and therefore are harmless to human health.

COMMUNITY

Sustainability is a human issue too. a+o is committed to supporting the work of artists and empowering women and our communities by amplifying their voices.   We have many exciting efforts in sustainability that we plan to keep you informed on.

We are committed to doing our best, season after season. Please stay tuned!
