Q+A WITH KAROLINA + ADAM WALLACE
Yearning for some ‘70s-heavy, foot-stomping, hand clapping, beer-chugging-friendly, psychedelic-folk rock replete with a side of harmonica and a lil sass/soul? Hi, meet the NYC-based band, Radiant Reveries (you can thank us later). For sonic-slaying proof, we suggest checking out their debut Album ‘Rise’ via their Soundcloud. After kicking it and playing a little #AOxGratefulDead dress up with the band’s charismatic (and very stylish) couple Karolina and Adam Wallace in our radiant (sorry, had to) Showroom, we can officially report that we are really, really obsessed. Turn up the tunes and learn a little more about how they went from being friends to falling in love and forming a new band, in our chit-chat with Karolina and Adam below...
DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN THREE WORDS:
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THE BAND’S NAME?
Karolina:The name "Radiant Reveries" came to Adam in a vision of sorts.
IF YOU COULD RAID ANYONE’S CLOSET, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHAT WOULD YOU TAKE?
Karolina:Mick Jagger and Bianca Jagger's closets' back in the day. I’d get Mick’s stage outfits and Bianca's dresses. And then I’d stop over Florence Welch’s closet for my boho fix.
WHAT’S YOUR SONGWRITING PROCESS LIKE?
Both:It's magic and miracles.
WHAT'S THE LAST SONG YOU LISTENED TO?
Karolina:Fleet Foxes - "Mykonos"
Adam:Nirvana - "Come As You Are"
FAVORITE ALBUM ARTWORK OF ALL TIME?
Karolina:Fleet Foxes - "Fleet Foxes" and Radiohead - "A Moon Shaped Pool"
Adam:One of my favorites is Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures "
Both:Rolling Stone and National Geographic when we fly. Otherwise, whatever is floating around at bookstores or on coffee tables.
FAVORITE MUSIC VIDEO?
Karolina:Smashing Pumpkins - "Thirty Three."
Adam:I’ve got a soft spot for Johnny Cash's "Hurt" video
Karolina:"True Romance" by Tony Scott
Adam:A great film is "Dead Man" by Jim Jarmusch
Karolina:"Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse
Adam:"The Divine Comedy" - Dante
Karolina:Right now it’s my white ankle boots.
Adam:My worn-to-rags stars and stripes bandana.
BEST PART ABOUT MAKING MUSIC WITH YOUR MAN? AND THE HARDEST PART?
Karolina:The best part is that we have an organic flow and trust one another. The hardest part is getting space to work on our music individually.
WHAT'S NEXT FOR Y'ALL?
Both:We are looking forward to getting the band on tour and finding a label that matches our vibe.
