What time do you wake up?
5am! I love mornings.
What does a typical work day look like?
I do Ashtanga yoga every morning for an hour! It’s a must start to the day for me and then I make breakfast for my three ladies—-either organic pancakes or eggs and toast and special mommy smoothies: strawberry, a banana, apple and almond milk with manuka honey...I usually need a little coffee with home made almond milk. The girls eat breakfast and we usually draw or play a game and I do their hair while they eat! I put them on the bus at 7:45 and then I get dressed and head to the office. My work day is always design and production in the morning and then everything else in the afternoon.... I am always home by 6 for dinner and bedtime, two nights a week I will allow myself some adult time!
What is your favorite part of the day?
I love my mornings with my girls, I love yoga....I love design! I really enjoy my days… minus bedtime! I could do without the cranky hour!
How do you juggle 3 kids and being a CEO?
The best I can—-sometimes I feel like there is never enough time for everything, but I do the best I can and try to focus and be present wherever I am. I realize I at times make sacrifices in both my work world and with my family, but I have learned to manage my time and my work flow so that it is possible for me to be there for my children. So much of being a mom boss is time management, prioritizing and being able to laugh and make light of the little things! I love to make lists, I’ve learned to be a better delegator, I always have breakfast and dinner with my children, and I also try to make them feel a part of my work world—-I want them to be proud and inspired by all of the successful women at Alice + Olivia!
What would advise young women who want amazing careers and a family?
Understand what balance means to you, don’t expect it to be easy but also don’t beat yourself up too much when it’s hard! Your children will respect your success and take pride in knowing that their mom is doing great things in the world! Make sure to plan family dinners, make sure to make the most of the time you have with your children and know that’s ok to make time for yourself too!
If you got a 25th hour in the day how would you spend it?
I would take an hour a day to draw or cuddle in bed with my babies or practice yoga at Eddie Stern’s school In Brooklyn vs. in my living room!
